The" Rising Sun Karate Association" was established in 1973 by Chief instructor, Sensei Tommy Kwan and meets at The Centre on Saturday and Tuesday evenings where it teaches the "SHUKOKAI"
style of Karate. Over the years Tommy Kwan, who is himself a Black Belt 6th Dan, has improved considerably the original Shukokai syllabus. The standard within The Rising Sun Association is reputed to be of the highest

The Association is a member of the "ENGLISH KARATE GOVERNING BODY", which is the only Karate governing body recognised by Sport England. Being a member of the E.K.G.B. enables them to move progressively into the future. Sensei Tommy Kwan holds the rank of N.V.Q.
