What is the Chadderton Old Peoples Centre |
The Chadderton Old Peoples Centre was opened on 22nd September 1952 at a meeting held at the Town Hall Chadderton with the object of promoting and assisting the general good of all old people in the District of Chadderton.
At this meeting a constitution was adopted and a committee was formed which is know as the
"Chadderton Old Peoples Welfare Committee"
The Committee is comprised of elected representatives of the various statutory bodies and voluntary organisations.
The original Committee had, over the years, become non- fuctional and on 20th June 2003, at the Annual General Meeting a new Committee was elected and this has had a tremendous effect on the operation of the centre.
Since their election, the Committee have had the entire inside of the centre cleaned and decorated, replaced the existing kitchen and boiler, had new front doors and side fire doors of a very high standard fitted, new curtains have been fitted to the stage, new special tables and chairs have been purchased and the Committee room has been resurrected.
In addition to these major improvements a number of smaller projects have been completed such as individual notice boards for each of our centre users and improvements have been made to the toilet facilites.
